Concrete Stamping and Staining comes in a multitude of colors, tones and hues; and can be achieved in a variety of ways. Each process is varied and requires an experienced contractor to achieve the desired effects.
When selecting your base-color and stamp pattern; it is a requirement to choose an Antiquing Release Color. Antiquing release is dusted over the surface of freshly colored concrete flatwork before using a pattern-stamping tool. The release agent prevents the tool from sticking to newly colored, freshly stamped concrete. As the tool is pulled from the concrete the colored release powder is layered into the textured surfaces of the concrete. Upon washing and sealing, the difference in color between the underlying
concrete and the release creates a visually attractive, antiqued look to the concrete. The added color gives the appearance of depth.

Concrete Stains
Staining imparts a luxurious richness that can't be achieved by any other coloring medium. Rather than produce a solid, opaque effect like paint, stains permeate the concrete to infuse it with luminous, translucent tones that vary depending on the surface they are applied to and the application techniques used. The results can mimic everything from polished marble to tanned leather to natural stone.
If you want to go beyond the subtle drama and subdued earth-toned palette of acid staining, consider using water-based stains, which come in a much broader spectrum of hues. Most manufacturers offer dozens of standard colors, including black and white and even metallic tints. Like acid stains, water-based stains (typically a blend of acrylic polymers and pigments) penetrate the concrete to produce permanent color, ranging from translucent to opaque depending on the product.

Integral Colors
One of the most popular methods for coloring newly placed concrete is integral coloring admixtures. These admixtures infuse concrete with rich, long-lasting, fade-resistant color. Stamped concrete contractors often use this coloring medium to produce a backdrop for contrasting accent or antiquing colors, such as pigmented release agents and stains or dyes. The layering of color is what enables us to closely replicate the variegated, multi-tonal appearance of natural stone.
